Vipassana Meditation

With a sharpened awareness one proceeds to observe the changing nature of body and mind, and experiences the universal truths of impermanence, suffering and egolessness. This truth-realization by direct experience is the process of purification. The entire path (Dhamma) is a universal remedy for universal problems, and has nothing to do with any organized religion or sectarianism. For this reason, it can be practiced freely by everyone, at any time, in any place, without conflict due to race, community or religion, and it will prove equally beneficial to one

Subject: My pic from Lia

Hi here is my Highschool pic. Ignore the hair My sister curled it and plastered it with a can of hair spray. My hair is normally fairly straight in a pony tail. It got darker brown as I got older and I consider my hair inherited from my Dad directly. Also the tip of my nose is like my dads. Everyone says I look like my mom at every reunion of my Dads. I have her face shape and her cheekbones and her type of eyes.
Love, Lia

I guess it really is not a tradition but just a natural thing that Aunts give nieces stickers. Or the way they use to call them they are seals. Then they get passed down sometimes.
I thought you might get a Kick out of this set I found this morning and saw the name on the envelope. I scanned it in for you.
Sometimes this information is interesting because you find that the same stuff you like can be almost a family trait to like simmilar things. I find I like these so much that I also have a hard time thinking of using them and wish to save them too.
Sincerely, Lia

Personality Exam

I did a personality quizAnd it did reflect my personality traits accurately Briefly what it said:I can be both calm and peaceful, I like to feel free to explore environment I like to see where life takes me.. this positive attitude gives me a wealth of experience.. I love to get out and see as much as I can.. I like to take time for myself.. My choice of drink shows that I care about my health At home I like my surroundings to be simple and functionalfor me friendship is about being totally relaxed with each other.. being so close you can hangout without even having to talk.

When you think of freedom.. you think of being in charge of your direction The open road and a full tank of gas will take you pretty much anywhere
The exam did not say anything about me being mean, selfish or greedy

What a Great Jacob Graef Family Picture

Subject: What a Great Picture ! -- Jacob Graef and Family

This is an awesome picture..

That man is definitely a Graef,, the chin, eyes, ears all match the family profile
So he has to be Jacob Graef and the woman must be Emma Skrable (his first wife)
The baby is Gertrude Graef .. then the girl center back might be Clara Graef born Nov 8, 1889..
Emma and Jacob have two other daughters Margaret and Pauline and two sons.. Alfred and Albert (boy in picture)
Clara went with her father Jacob (when he separated from Emma) to Oklahoma around 1910
Clara was probably the oldest of the Graef girls and 21 when she went to Oklahoma with her father Jacob..
Clara marries Peter.. ( Jacobs brother) they have two boys Edward Graef (born 1910) and my father Fred (born 1911) were both born in Oklahoma
Jacob marries a Lillie C Burns in 1910 they have a son George Frederick born Sep 23 1911
Jacob Graef returns to Iowa with new wife Lilie and has another son Nicholas Syvester born Dec 6 1913 in Iowa City
Lillie separates from Jacob and and returns with boys (George and Nick) to Oklahoma about 1914
Jacob Graef's life story is a complicated one and the details of his later life is still a mystery.. but he might have remarried again in Polk County, Iowa to a lady named Minnie
if anyone has more information about Jacob Graef's life .. pictures or final resting place.. please send to us
Thanks to Lia Burris (http://www.blogger.com/ ) greatgrand mother is Gertrude Graef for this very helpful photo...

We have been looking for Jacob, also..
Jacob Graef was born about 1865 to George and Katherine Graef

We think he was a free spirit... Not willing to settle down..
We know Jacob married Emma Skroble..
and then they separated   don't know the dates of marriage and separation
They had a daughter Clara Graef ....

But then ..Jacob left Iowa around 1908.. with his daughter Clara for Oklahoma  along with  George Graef (his father) and Peter ( Brother)
They appear in a 1910  census for 4-ward Chickasaw , Grady, Oklahoma

Eventualy George, Peter and Clara return to Iowa
Peter got Clara pregnant  and they have two children  (Charles and Fred ) while in Oklahoma..

We don't know anything about Jacob's life after his separation from Emma
He could have stayed in OK and remarried  and would  have been about 45 yrs old when he stated his life in Oklahoma.
.
Is Chickasaw , Grady, Oklahoma   near Pauls Valley Oklahoma ?

Do you know how old Jacob was when he married Lille Burns?
Did they have children ?
Did he stay with her.?  If  so he might be burried some where in the area ?

If you have more information about Peter and Jacob while in Oklahoma would appreciate hearing more about their life stories

I have a web site for Graef Family History...

take a look at it ... http://graef-family.blogspot.com/

Dramatic Sad Moment in the Amazing Race

Yup , your are right , it was a dramatic sad moment in the Amazing Race...

I wonder if Jen will learn any lessons when she reviews the tape

of her Amazing Race Adventure

But she will probably give up and say

"I can't handle this anymore"

and turn off the VCR

Honoring the Memory of those Who have passed

Honoring the Memory of those Who have passed

Sometimes the details of an amazing woman's life can be inspiring
Her faith was a constant source of
strength
You all probably have this obituary of Mrs Auleen Eberhardt..
But I thought I would pass it along to remember and honor her on passing January 12, 1995

RE: Poems from Last Night

Thanks Mike and Andrea

For taking the time to put your thoughts and feelings into poems..
and sharing them It is great to read them
... Being a parent is not easy...
Now if the kids will only read and understand.. that God and parents guide them thru...
Their dark and mysterous and wonderful life adventures... I am sure they will someday..

Michael Eberhardt <m_ebster@sbcglobal.net> wrote:
More poems from last night. Should I change my middle name to Seuss?

The Future

I heard the call of God last night,
to walk by faith and not by sight.

To lean on His mighty hand,
during every trouble and demand.

To not forget that He¢s the king,
who created everything.

In His purpose and His plan,
this is where the future stands.

And so with joy and peace I rest,
and lean on Him through this test.

It is the hope from the Lord,
that gives the courage and a sword.

To fight a battle he controls,
He knows the outcome, where it goes.

Life is meant to be this way,
to teach me something every day.

The lessons learned are better than gold,
better than wealth is His hold.

I do not know the future¢s way,
But He¢s enough for me today.

Peace and hope they are in sight,
so back to bed I¢ll rest tonight.

Wake up

I¢m in the comfort of my bed,
a quite content and peaceful stead.

I hear a cry in the night,
get out of bed, turn on the light.

It is the cry of little one,
Demanding and fussy, so I come.

A little boy with a giant¢s scream,
Interrupted my pleasant dream.

My Privilege

It is my privilege to have you,
To hold and watch and love you.
To see you grow, learning so much.
To watch you laugh and feel your touch.

I could be doing other things,
Buying clothes or fancy rings.
Exercising, watching sports,
On the beach in swimming shorts.

Reading books, educated,
Relaxing, easy, quite sedated.

But now I want to be with you,
Ignore what I¢m supposed to do.
Dirty dishes, smelly shoes.
Disgusting things in every room,
I really need to find a broom.

But alas I know this time won't last,
It goes so quickly and so fast.
And in time you will be gone,
And so for now I¢ll sing this song.

It is my privilege and awesome right,
And so I¢ll treasure you tonight.

Mike
