Even if death doesn't seem imminent, it's best to get started on this list quickly.

After all, we found 100 things you need to eat (or drink) in Iowa before it's too late.

This list isn't just about great food. It's about house specialties and unique dishes no other place serves (or does quite as well).

These 100 items may be the-best-part-of-the-meal or the-best-thing-to-eat-in-town or the-best-thing-I-ever-ate.

Scores of people gave us tips, and we checked them out to the best of our ability.

We kept the list to 100 dishes, even though Iowa has thousands of restaurants in its 99 counties and more great meals than we can count.

These dishes illustrate the brilliant spectrum of flavors Iowa has to offer - 100 menu items that keep patrons coming back and 100 dishes worth seeking out, with space next to each item to check off as you go.

We've given them to you in alphabetical order by location.

So, what are you waiting for? Dig in.

Spagetti soup! Really! And what royal town had Spagetti named after it? Is there a Castle in Spagetti Italy? I think not as Descartes said before he disapppeared.
Whereas Windsor was named after a soup.
Type windsor soup into gooogle if you want proof! And get the recipe.

I can't believe a corn dog from the Iowa State Fair and coney's from Ted's Coney Island in Des Moines aren't on this list

Creme horns at Stan's Pastry Shop in Keokuk. They're so wonderful that people have them delivered to foreign countries.
